In May 2025, Ishaan Srivastava was officially sworn in as a representative in the Associated Students of Madison (ASM), the student government at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He will begin his term in September, bringing with him a strong commitment to student advocacy and civic engagement. As an ASM representative, Ishaan’s goals include increasing student involvement in shared governance, strengthening support for student organizations, and actively defending diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives on campus. He aims to be a voice for students across all backgrounds and to ensure that educational access and representation remain central to the university’s mission.
The Associated Students of Madison serves as the official voice of UW–Madison’s student body, representing over 45,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. ASM works to allocate student-segregated fees, advocate for student needs at the campus, local, and state levels, and partner with university administration to shape policies affecting student life. Through legislative, academic, and grassroots channels, ASM empowers students to participate in the governance of their university and to push for a more equitable and inclusive campus environment.
