Ishaan Srivastava

Progressive activist

"From starting a political news show, to publishing a book at the age of 17, I have always looked for ways to break barriers, use my voice to advocate for progressive causes-and I’m just getting started."
Ishaan Srivastava started The Ishaan S. Show in 2021 to make sense of the complex world of politics and to create a space where important issues could be discussed honestly and clearly. Since then, he’s released over 70 episodes, breaking down major political events—from national elections to international affairs—and bringing on guests who are activists, organizers, and experts shaping the conversation. Alongside the podcast, Ishaan writes a newsletter three times a week, delivering thoughtful and easy-to-understand analysis that helps readers stay up to date without feeling overwhelmed.

In 2023, he took his voice even further when he published his first book, Saving Crescents, a political thriller that delves into the struggles of two public servants striving to restore democracy in a nation teetering on the brink of autocracy.

Alongside reporting about the world of politics, Ishaan also has experience onon the ground. He worked on state legislative campaigns in Illinois in both 2022 and 2024, gaining hands-on experience in voter outreach, organizing, and campaign strategy. His political work also extended to the national level, where he contributed to the 2024 Presidential election from Wisconsin, and in 2025, he worked on mobilizing college voters in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race-one of the most closely watched elections in the country.

During his time at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Ishaan has been an active leader in student politics. He served as President of the Young Progressives, leading efforts on increasing voter turnout and civic engagement among students, and advocating for key political causes. He’s also an elected member of the Associated Students of Madison-the student government of UW Madison, where he advocates for stronger student representation and policies that foster a more inclusive, accessible campus community

Ishaan is currently the Executive Director of the Illinois Progress Group, where he focuses on mobilizing young people across the state to engage with politics and advance progressive policy goals. In addition, he serves as Youth Engagement Chair for the Barrington Area Democrats, working to boost political participation among young voters in local and regional elections.

Whether he’s knocking on doors, hosting meaningful conversations on his show, or organizing activists on the ground, Ishaan believes that democracy works best when everyone is involved-especially young people. He is passionate about making politics more accessible, transparent, and impactful for a generation ready to step up and lead.

From podcasting and writing to grassroots organizing and leadership, Ishaan Srivastava is building a career dedicated to shaping the future of political engagement — not by waiting for change to happen, but by making it happen.
